Ambassador Lyu Jian meets with the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific(ESCAP), Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana

On April 19, Ambassador Lyu Jian met with Ms. Alisjahbana, Executive Secretary of UN ESCAP, at his residence. Li Hong, Permanent Representative of China to ESCAP, Ren Weimin, Director of Transport Division of ESCAP, and Mr. Hirohito Toda, Head of Secretariat Office, were present.

Ambassador Lyu Jian said the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation will be held in Beijing from April 25 to 27. It will be a landmark international event. ESCAP is the first United Nations Organization to implement the belt and road cooperation with China. Ms. Executive Secretary was invited to attend the forum to renew and upgrade the documents on Belt and Road cooperation with the Chinese side. This is a milestone for both sides to sum up experience, plan for the future and move the cooperation to a new height. He looked forward to the fruitful results of the Executive Secretary’s attendance at this forum.

   
Ms. Alisjahbana appreciated China's important contribution to the sustainable development of the Asia Pacific region and looked forward to participation in the upcoming Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
